Characteristics of Heteranthera Zosterifolia
It is a beautiful stem plant with bright green lanceolate leaves. In its home country, Brazil, it generally grows in stagnant waters and swampy regions.
In the hobby, it has been established for many years as a decorative plant for Dutch-style aquariums, as well as for natural aquariums, toHere it is used as a contrast plant in the front, middle and back simply by pruning it to the desired height.
This plant is an excellent indicator of water quality. The lack of nitrogen (in the form of NO3) causes the leaves to become transparent before they wilt. The lack of phosphorus (in the form of PO4) changes the bright green of the plant to a darker shade.
It is an undemanding plant and grows well at medium light intensities without additional CO2 fertilization.
