Characteristics of Bacopa Caroliniana
The Bacopa Caroliniana aquarium plant also known as Bacopa Amplexicaulis has been present in the hobby for many years. Its origins lie in the southeastern U.S., where it is found in swamps, submerged, and emerged. Several forms of this species can be found, among others a smaller leaf shape and a variegated shape, the latter is not very different from the standard form.
One of the most striking characteristics of this plant is the lemon aroma emitted by the leaves when they are crushed. The base of the ovate leaves completely covers the stem.
This stem plant doesn't grow very fast, but it needs lots of light. It grows a little better when fertilized with micro and macronutrients, however, as well as CO2 fertilization.
