Cryptocoryne undulata, also known under its synonym Cryptocoryne axelrodii, develops submerged leaves narrowly lanceolate with wavy margins and coloration green to dark brown, often with a dark marbled pattern.

The rhizome of the old submerged plants sometimes grows vertically out of the substrate, like a small tree trunk with stilt roots.

Cryptocoryne Undulata Characteristics

This plant It grows in low light and without fertilizer, however it grows best in medium light and a nutrient rich substrate. Like many other Cryptocoryne species, this plant is easily spread by its underground stolons.

It is a versatile aquarium plant, better located in the middle plane, in higher aquariums also in the foreground. Over time it forms spreading stands, and with its narrow, dark leaves it is especially suitable for aquatic landscapes of the Natural Aquarium style.

Like many other species in the Cryptocoryne Wendtii group, Cryptocoryne Undulata has long been known in the hobby. In the wild, it is found emerged and submerged along rivers and streams on the island of Sri Lanka.
