It is a small plant from the Asian tropics. In Europe, this plant is not yet too well known and is still very rare.

Under water it develops very narrow, linear, light green leaves and stolons. It closely resembles Helanthium Parvulum. In its emerged form it has rounded spoon-shaped leaves and small white flowers, from which striking added hedgehog-shaped fruits are formed.
