Shirakura Red Bee Sand Characteristics
This substratum, produced by the special procedure and composed of different types of burnt soil, it has the characteristic of permanent reduction of water values, which are important for breeding. Among those values are the water hardness (KH) and the pH value. For rearing, a water hardness (KH) of 0-2 and a pH of less than 7 are desired in order to avoid ammonium formation. If the general hardness (DGH) of these values is less than 5, it must be increased by adding Liquid Mineral Ca +, otherwise the shrimp may have problems with molting.
Shirakura Red Sand Bee does not contain any kind of fertilizer additives whatsoever and therefore it is absolutely harmless to shrimp. Having a highly porous structure offers a large surface area and promotes the growth of important microorganisms, which are especially important for shrimp development. When using plate filters, Red Bee Sand offers optimal conditions for biological filtration and this in turn produces better water quality.
Other advantages:
-Reduces algae growth
-Mosses grow greener
-Lighter water
-Natural color: black-brown
