Characteristics of Anubias Nana “Kirin”
Like Anubias barteri var. Traditional nana, the 'Kirin' variety is an extremely hardy and easy-care aquarium plant. It is mainly an epiphyte suitable for harsh aquatic environments, although it can also be attached to the substrate as long as the rhizome is not buried to prevent rot. Although it requires little light, it can grow under bright lighting if enough nutrients are provided. The additional supply of CO2 is not necessary, but it accelerates its growth. The optimal temperature for its development ranges between 22 and 28 °C. The plant is easily reproduced by cuttings from the rhizome and side shoots.
Anubias barteri var. nana 'Kirin' stands out especially among epiphytic plants for aquariums. Its wavy-edged leaves, unusual for Anubias, and its compact growth make it a real eye-catcher. In addition, thanks to its minimal requirements, it is an ideal plant even for those who are new to the aquarium hobby.
