Characteristics of Homalomena Papua

Homalomena is found primarily in South Asia and the Southwest Pacific, but there are a few species known to be indigenous to Latin America. Many Homalomenas have a strong anise odor when pruned.

Homalomena is a genus of flowering plants in the family Araceae. The name apparently derives from a mistranslated Malay vernacular name, rendered as homolos, meaning flat, and mene = moon.
