Rubber plant is a genus of approximately 850 species of woody trees, shrubs, vines, among others of the Moraceae family. Known collectively as fig trees or figs, they are natives of the tropics and some species extend into the semi-warm temperate zone. It is a temperate species native to southwestern Asia and mediterranean region (from Afghanistan to Portugal), which has been widely cultivated since ancient times for its fruit.
