Cephalotus Follicularis Profile
Characteristics of Cephalotus Follicularis
Origin: America
El Cephalotus follicularis it is the only plant within the genus Cephalotus and is characterized by its low-growing collecting cups that do not exceed 6 cm. These cups grow in rosettes and have a serrated neck where the nectar glands are to attract insects. With enough sunlight, the glasses take on their characteristic red color. Unlike most other carnivorous plants, these don't need to be as wet. Watering every two days is more than enough.
Watered
Cephalotus can be kept much drier than most carnivorous plants. Feel free to let the soil dry out a bit. This is a relatively vulnerable plant where rainwater is preferred to tap water.
Lighting design
A bright location is important, but preferably a bright location without extreme temperatures or temperature fluctuations. These plants, for example, are not used to extreme heat.
This plant is not hardy, so bring it back indoors in winter.
Potting soil and fertilizers
Like the other carnivorous plants, it is preferable not to give this plant fertilizer.
