Characteristics of EarthPro Ca 100g
Calcium is stored in the bones of an animal and is also released into the animal's bloodstream for muscle function.
Calcium is known to be essential for reptiles since we started keeping them as pets. In fact, it is an indispensable tool in reptile maintenance. Lack of calcium supply or absorption, as we know, leads to a serious and mostly irreversible condition known as metabolic bone disease. This is where an animal loses the calcium content of its bones as the body desperately tries to find reserves within its own body.
This manifests itself in "flexible bones," most often seen in the long bones of the legs or jaw. In advanced cases, the animal becomes very weak due to impaired muscle function and may not be able to stand.
However, the supply of calcium is only one part of the reptile's intricate nutritional web. In order for an animal to use calcium, it must have access to the correct nutrients from its food and also from its environment. This means that reptiles, amphibians, and indeed many animals, need access to a source of ultraviolet light in order for your body to get vitamin D3.
