Cryptocoryne usteriana is a large plant with long, gnarled leaves, which grows to a height of up to 70 cm.

This species generally grows submerged in rivers on the island of Guimar (Philippines). C. usteriana has long been known as aquarium plant undemanding and recommended for cichlid aquariums.

Tolerates the hard water rich in calcium. It is sometimes confused with Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia, however the latter has much longer leaves.

Cryptocoryne usteriana is a Cryptocoryne very big It can grow to a height of up to 70 cm. It grows mainly submerged in rivers on the Philippine island of Guimaras. For a long time, the C. aponogetifolia larger was not distinguished from C. usteriana. This is the reason why plants that are grown under the name of C.usteriana they are in many cases truly C. aponogetifolia.

Like C. aponogetifolia, true C. usteriana grows best in hard water. This preference, as well as its size, make it a highly recommended plant for Aquariums of Chichlid from Lake Tanganyika and Lake Malawi.
