Features of SL-AQUA Nitrifying for Bee Shrimp
SL-aqua bacteria for bee shrimp It has been specially developed for an optimal bacterial balance in aquariums with low acidity (less than 6,8). Therefore, this product is very suitable for Caridina aquariums with a low pH. The bacteria SL-aqua for bee shrimp contains different bacterial strains to convert waste products such as ammonia (NH3), ammonium (NH4) and nitrite (NO2) into nitrate (NO3). Ammonia and ammonia often end up in the aquarium through feed and animal excretion products. This is converted into nitrite by oxidizing bacteria of ammonia / ammonium and oxygen (O2) under the following reaction:
NH3 / NH4 + O2> NO2 + H2O
This reaction is the first step in converting waste. NO2 is an intermediate step here, which is then converted to nitrate. This is done by oxidizing nitrite and oxygen bacteria under the following reaction:
NO2 + O2> NO3
The nitrite that is created in the first intermediate step is very toxic to all aquarium animals. A large amount of NH3 / NH4 is also toxic but less toxic than nitrite. Therefore, it is important to have a well balanced aquarium and to maintain the bacterial culture well. When the conversion of nitrite to nitrate cannot take place quickly enough, a nitrite peak will occur. This often happens with start-up aquariums because the bacterial culture here has yet to grow and get going, but this can also happen in an aquarium where, for example, waste products (NH3 / NH4 ). This can happen, for example, due to dead animals, adding too much food, power outage, use of medications, etc.
SL-aqua bacteria for bee shrimp is a concentrated bacterial additive containing ammonia / ammonium oxidizing bacteria and nitrite oxidizing bacteria. Ammonium oxidizing bacteria are found here to a greater extent as they are more necessary due to the low pH. This allows the waste to be quickly converted to safe nitrates. This nitrate is finally absorbed by aquarium plants.
Different bacteria cultures for different pH values
SL-aqua has 3 products containing different filter bacteria. This has to do with the pH value of the aquarium water.
Water with a value of basic pH (greater than 7) contains a higher content of ammonia (NH4OH). This requires a filter bacteria culture that contains more NH4OH converting bacteria. You can use this product for that.
Water with a Neutral pH (about 7) contains the same amount of ammonia (NH4OH) and ammonia (NH4 +). Therefore, this requires a filter bacteria culture containing an equal amount of NH4OH and NH4 converting bacteria. You can use this product for that.
Water with a acid pH (less than 7) contains a higher content of ammonia (NH4 +). Therefore, this requires a filter bacteria culture that contains more NH4 + converting bacteria. The bacteria SL-aqua for shrimp bee is suitable for this.
Shot
- When starting a new aquarium, add 200 milliliters for every 100 liters of aquarium water for the first time. This will boost the growth of the bacterial culture and allow the aquarium to equilibrate more quickly. Tip: Add a little fish food to provide bacteria with 'food / waste products'.
- For regular maintenance of the bacterial culture, add 10 milliliters per 100 liters of aquarium water with each water change.
SL-aqua bacteria for bee shrimp it is completely safe for all aquarium animals and plants and therefore you cannot overdose. Aerate the aquarium well when using filter bacteria to allow conversions to take place.
