Characteristics of Taxiphyllum Alternans - "Taiwan Moss"
"Taiwan Moss" is a moss with a creeping growth form that originates in regions with temperate to subtropical climates: the southeastern United States and eastern Asia. In its habitat, it lives on the ground and can be found on exposed tree roots, rotting wood, in swamps, and on rocks in streams and waterfalls. It was originally introduced to the hobby as moss from Taiwán, although it is not yet clear whether this moss is native to Taiwán. Later, it was identified as Taxiphyllum alternans.
"Taiwan Moss" is as undemanding as T.barbieri. It can be used for multiple purposes in the aquarium. Its branched, leafy shoots, with their triangular outline, offer many design possibilities and can be used in the same way as the Christmas moss (Vesicularia montagnei). However, the moss of Taiwán it has a finer general structure than the latter.
