Piptospatha is a genus of plants in the Araceae family. It is native to Thailand to Borneo, they belong to the same family as the Bucephalandras, Cryptocorynes and Homalomenas.

It is a small plant of about 10cm for aquarium fronts, with green oval leaves at the base with scattered light green spots, petioles of a reddish purple color - very dark purple.

Characteristics of Piptospatha "Ridleyi"

They grow naturally along streams, mud banks and even the sides of waterfalls and are submerged in the rainy season. It is a plant that does not require much light or CO2, although it appreciates it.

Piptospatha develop best on hard surfaces, attached to different types of wood or rock with fishing line or the like. Not used to being planted in fine media such as sand, the rhizome has to be exposed.

Due to their low requirements, they are a good choice for any planted aquarium or shrimp.
