Characteristics of Hygrophila Lancea "Araguaia"
Diegro Wasshausen identified this narrow-leaved creeping Hygrophila, supposedly from South America, as Hygrophila lancea, a species from Asia. It has spread widely among fans in the United States, but recently also in Europe.
You need a good supply of CO2. Prune regularly the leaves keep their thick and compact shape. Hygrophila Lancea "Araguaia" needs intense lighting and, in contrast to most other Hygrophila species, is quite slow growing. It is usually sold in its emerged form and differs greatly from the underwater form, which develops after it has been planted in the aquarium.
