Aponogeton Ulvaceus Characteristics
Aponogeton ulvaceus is generally offered as a tuber with a few small leaves. This also makes sense because the plant goes through a rest period that lasts for several months, during which all the leaves are shed. An aponogeton with large leaves is already in the middle of the growth phase. After the dormant period, Aponogeton ulvaceus grows extremely fast and leaves a new sheet every week. On a tuber there can be up to 50 very decorative, light green, ribbon-shaped leaves that can reach a considerable size of 50cm, although the size can be controlled through pruning.
La ideal temperature of water is 24 - 28 ° C taller than the other plants of the genus Aponogeton. Contrary to the often expressed opinion that the tuber should be removed from the aquarium during the dormant period, this is not absolutely necessary. By the same plant you can tell when the time has come. Then it no longer forms new leaves, and the older ones gradually turn brown. Then simply remove the old leaves and leave the aponogeton alone. You can also lower the temperature of the aquarium a little. After about three months, often after a large water change, a new generation of leaves will emerge from the tuber. With each resting phase, the tubercle of Aponogeton ulvaceus enlarges.
